At MIX 2011, last month Microsoft previewed the next version of Windows phone with a codename “Mango”. At the event, Microsoft also showed Internet Explorer 9 mobile version with hardware acceleration compatibility; this was seen as an attempt to blow away Mobile Safari, the latest mobile browser on iPhone 4.
As expected, Apple did not take much time to retaliate – WinRumors confirmed that Apple has radically boosted the HTML5 performance in iOS 5, making it capable of beating Internet Explorer 9 mobile.
The Windows Phone update helps it in rendering 24 frames per seconds; whereas according to WinRumors iPhone running on iOS 5 can render 31 frames per second.
At the moment it is not clear if Apple has included hardware acceleration support in its Mobile Safari to get this kind of performance boost, but one thing is for sure that Apple won’t let Microsoft or anybody else dominate the mobile arena!
Safari has always been one of the fastest browsers, and Safari mobile carries the legacy forward by thrashing off IE9′s mobile version in style!
