In its first study on the topic, the Pew Research Center found 35% of American adults own some kind of smartphone, and among adult mobile users that figure rises to 42%.
Pew Internet in a new study on Monday revealed that a full quarter of American smartphone owners use the device as their main Internet source.

The data is based on a survey conducted in May, which found that 83 percent of U.S. adults have a cell phone, and 42 percent of those people have a smartphone.
