Malwares to strike android sms

The new strain of malware comes as security experts are warning about the threat from mobile malware that may use tainted ads and drive-by downloads. Researchers at Fortinet said the malicious file is a new version of "Zitmo," a family of mobile malware first spotted last year that stands for "ZeuS in the mobile".

This comes shortly after reports emerged that the Zeus gang has come up with an Android version of their banking malware known as HippoSMS, the latest Trojan is sophisticated enough to automatically send SMS communications to expensive phone numbers and to prevent the carriers from notifying users of the charges incurred, researchers at North Carolina State University discovered July 10.

Mobile-security firm Lookout warned of new variants of DroidDream Light that were found in the Android Market and subsequently removed by Google.
