Nokia paves way for the world's slimmest phone

It all started with a document leak from Flashfly that revealed the four Symbian Belle(s) Helen, Zeta, Cindy and Fate. The handsets were rumored to be powered by 1 GHz processor smartphone making them one of the snappiest Symbians around. While among the four handsets Helen was supposed to be the flagship device with its 3.5 inch amoled display, Zeta seems to have stolen the thunder.

Images of Nokia Zeta aka Nokia 700 surfaced shortly within two days after this leak stirring up rumors and speculations. We don't blame anyone, specially knowing how unlikely it is to see a symbian OS surfacing without a official launch, rumors and speculations were bound to arise.

So what have been the rumor mongers saying about the Nokia Zeta handset, here is the snap shot.

The first rumor we heard about Nokia Zeta was that its is the "thinnest smartphone ever". While some blogs reported that Nokia Zeta's claims are true citing thickness of 8 mm, other specs which surfaced later refuted the claims. The specs which we are seeing now is 10mm, which if true doesn't quite place Nokia in that "thin range". As one of the tech bloggers pointed amusingly, "maybe Nokia meant the thinnest ever they made."

Another rumor doing rounds is that Zeta features a amoled display. Again from the leaked pictures it is difficult to state that if the device sports a amoled display or not. The device is also speculated to be light weight, weighing just over 80 grams.

After Nokia showcased N9 during the Nokia Connection 2011, NFC is another area that the company is warming up to. This Symbian Belle-powered handset is said to be packed with NFC capabilities. There is no evidence to back this up, but it is something that everybody is talking about.

There are also strong rumors regarding its touted 1 GHz processor, with Nokia trying to break into the budget smartphone market it is highly likely that it will pack in some high-end specs like this.

Zeta also apparently packs in a battery life of 1080mAh which is not a bad battery life, but nothing spectacular either.

Rumored to be a replacement to the C6-01, Nokia 700 "Zeta," has so far surfaced in black and white colors, some tech bloggers are saying that beside this, Zeta will have three other color variants at launch. The other set of rumors indicate that there will be a lot more color choices, which we really like.

The recent leaked images show a 5MP camera supposedly a fixed focus one, but we can't be too sure as Nokia may change the design and tweak the model even further before it actually officially launches.

Last but the least the rumor about changes in Nokia nomenclature. It seems the company is inspired by the BMW and will be aping their series title like 6series, and 7series lineup of automobiles. Going forwards don't be surprised to find 3 digit naming system e.g 6XX, and 7XX for future product codes.
