Rivalry Between Apple and Samsung Goes On

It looks like the battle between Apple and Samsung is far from being over. A few months back, both companies sued each other and demanded to see each others’ prototypes for unreleased mobile devices. Now, both are preparing to release new smartphones: iPhone 5 and Galaxy S2 Plus.

Rumors claim that the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus would be an upgraded version of the Galaxy S2. The Galaxy S2 is not yet available in the U.S., but it was greatly appreciated overseas (Asia and Europe) since its introduction. Some of the great features of the Samsung Galaxy S2 are: a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen with a resolution of 480X800, a slim frame, dual core processor, 8 megapixel camera with LED Flash and NFC.

Reports suggest that Galaxy S2 will be released later this year on several U.S. carriers. A release date for Galaxy S2 Plus has yet to be announced, but sources say that it won’t be launched long after Galaxy S2, and it will run on the latest Android operating system, called “Ice Cream Sandwich”. The S2 Plus is also rumored to get a 1.4 GHz dual core processor.

If the latest rumors regarding the new Apple gadget are true, we might see two new iPhones by the end of this year: iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, and then, if the timelines will match, we will witness two competitions: one between iPhone 4S and Galaxy S2, and one between iPhone 5 and Galaxy S2 Plus.

Of course, first we need to hear from Apple that they really intend to release a new iPhone, and then we can worry about its competitors. If rumors like a dual core processor, 8 MP camera, edge-to-edge screen, 4G LTE turn out to be true, then iPhone 5 shouldn’t have any problems competing with the Samsung Galaxy S2, S2 Plus or any other smartphones out there.
