Apple is the most valuable brand in the whole world as it tops google

Apple have topped Google in the latest Millard Brown Optimor’s annual “BrandZ: Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands” study. After four years in the top position, Google could only manage second, thanks to a massive 84 percent increase in value by Apple over a single year.

According to the study, Google lost 2 percent of its brand value over the year, ending up at $111.5 billion. Apple gained 84 percent, which brought them in with a total of $153.28 billion. The other top positions were rounded out by IBM, McDonald’s, and Microsoft respectively, with $100.8 billion, $81 billion, and $78.2 billion in brand value each.

“Strong brands, while not immune to the vicissitudes of the market, are more protected, prepared, resourceful and resilient,” said David Roth of WPP, parent company of Millard Brown Optimor, when explaining the importance of brand value. Apple are a great example of a heavily branded company, where growth is strongly linked with the values of customer loyalty and brand identity.

While Apple were the biggest winners in this study, they were not the only company who experienced massive growth. Facebook’s brand value jumped to 35th place, increasing 246 percent over the year to $19.1 billion. This meant they were the biggest riser by percentage of all companies. The biggest Chinese search engine, Baidu, also saw massive growth, with its brand value increasing by 141 percent year over the year to $22.5 billion, giving it 29th place.

Peter Walshe, Millward Brown BrandZ director, says: “Apple has built its whole brand on a promise it lives up to. The BrandZ Top 100 are not only more trusted and recommended but are better value – people are prepared to pay what they are worth.”
